Martin Schoeller

Image
Martin Schoeller Martin Schoeller is a portrait photographer that uses the same lighting and tone in everyone of his pictures. He is normally taking a picture of someone closer up which is still seeing who they are but they all have a similar look. I liked his way of photography because I think you can really see peoples emotions close up. In his work as you look over it the people have different ways of showing emotion but not having it planned emotion. My project is to show emotion in pictures with not knowing exactly what emotion and if it was in complete focus but just to show the current emotion of that person. He has done work for magazine articles which in the cover a lot of people are either very serious or having fun and smiling. I based my work off of him and I think some of my photos are similar in the way he takes pictures but in my own spin on the work. I like how all his photos are for a reason but the face is what matters.

Richard Avedon

Image
Richard Avedon      Richard Avedon is a photographer who mostly shot American Fashion and Portraits. In 1944, Richard got his first gig with Harper's Bazaar which is a fashion magazine. Then in 1946, Richard opened up his own studio to shoot for magazines like Vogue and Life magazines. After all of that he went on to be the chief editor for Harper's Bazaar. He also was the lead photographer at Vogue until Anna Wintour became chief editor in 1973. He has done so many shoots with many people and companies like Colgate, Calvin Klein, Revlon and many more.  He is known for minimalistic portraits which is the style I like. I think all his photos have meaning or reason behind them but the way he takes them makes them look so minimalistic. I really am fascinated with the man with bees picture because obviously it takes a lot of courage to take that picture but at the same time to keep calm so you do not get stung. He has a unique mind for his pictures and that's what...

Abelardo Morell

Image
Abelardo Morell  Abelardo Morell was born in Havana, Cuba and immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1962. Abe has a very unique styles of photos that are mostly in black and white and some look like constructed images because of how he took photos and how he put them together. Abe brings the nostalgia out in pictures because of how you look at it can bring back happiness to a person.  I inserted this image from Abe because I thought it reminds us of childhood and how it makes a person happy because a happy home and happy vibe is important to be able to understand these images in the series but some people will interpret it differently. I like his multiple choices in series because he hits all different aspects of photography and whoever likes nostalgia and composted photos would like Abe and like to study him and his images.
